Eleanor Hollis Takach, 87, of Chapin died Monday, June 4, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, June 8 at Chapin United Methodist Church by Pastor Paul Allen and Rev. Bill Mitchell. Interment did follow in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family did receive friends on Friday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at Chapin United Methodist Church.
Born on July 8, 1924 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John James “Jim” Hollis, Sr. and Leila Wolfe Hollis. She was the wife of the late John J. “Tack” Takach, Sr.
Mrs. Takach attended the Columbia schools graduating from Columbia High School in 1942. She worked at the Army Air Base where she met her husband and later enjoyed her work as a teacher’s aide at John B. Thomas Elementary School.
She enjoyed the lake, especially the sunsets, spending time with family, and was an excellent cook. Her doors were always open to family and friends. To her family she was a rock.
She is survived by her daughter Chris (Sam) Neal of Chapin; sons, Patrick Takach and Jim (Cindy) Takach all of Chapin; grandchildren, Merit Takach, Kayla Takach, Cory Takach, Stacey Kirkland, Scott Neal, Bridget (Devin) Swindall, Jimmy Takach, Brianna Takach, Chance Takach and Kristin Takach; great grandson, Ethan Kirkland; sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Hedgepath, Shirley Amick and Margie (Bill) Oswald; brother, Johnny (Ruby) Hollis, Jr.; many close friends and her cat “Macho”.
She was predeceased by sons, Robert B. “Bob” Takach, John J. Takach, Jr., and Mark W. Takach; granddaughter, Savannah Lee Takach and sister, Jimmie Boykin.
Pallbearers will be Merit Takach, Scott Neal, Cory Takach, Jimmy Takach, Chance Takach and Sam Neal.
