On this Veteran’s Day, we ask for blessings on all who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe.
Have mercy on all our veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in non-combative posts; May their calling to service continue in their lives in many positive ways.

Whitaker Funeral Home Welcomes Erin Whitaker -- Posted on Monday, August 11 2008
NEWBERRY – Whitaker Funeral Home is proud to announce the addition of Erin Whitaker to their staff. Erin is the daughter of Christie and Doggett Whitaker, bringing a third generation of the Whitaker family to the business. After graduating from Georgia Tech in 1999, Erin worked for Eastman Kodak Company in New York and Colorado before returning to school in 2007. She recently received her International Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina and is now serving her Funeral Director and Embalmer apprenticeship at Whitaker Funeral Home. “A Funeral Director is one of the few professions that allows you to be invited into people’s lives, sharing their experiences, getting to know their loved ones and having the opportunity to help them through a complex and painful time,” Erin explained. “I want to stay in South Carolina where I can use my skills and experiences to help the community that has helped me in so many ways. I’m thankful to be a part of funeral service and the staff of Whitaker Funeral Home.” A native of Newberry, Erin volunteers with many community organizations and is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She is also available to conduct community educational programs on multiple topics. Whitaker Funeral Home is one of the oldest family owned and independently operated funeral homes in South Carolina. With locations in Newberry and Chapin, the funeral home continues its mission to serve the community by facilitating and creating meaningful ways for families to grieve their loss and celebrate the memories of their loved ones. Whitaker Funeral Home is a member of several professional organizations including the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and the Cremation Association of North America.
