Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore, 70, of 5238 Crowder Road, Kinards, wife of J. R. Longshore, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Summit Place in Simpsonville. Mrs. Longshore was born on Oct. 18, 1934 in Laurens County, a daughter of the late J. Harold and Betty Lou Davenport Cunningham. She worked with her husband and sons at J. R. Longshore and Sons Land Clearing. She was a member of Bush River Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir. Mrs. Longshore is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Joan Longshore Waldrop of Kinards; two sons James Robert Longshore, Jr. and Harold Michael “Mike” Longshore both of Kinards; two sisters, Ann Cunningham Holsonback of Cayce and Ruth Cunningham Clewis of Rockhill; four brothers, Freddie Cunningham of Clinton, Harold Cunningham of Simpsonville, Terry Cunningham of Kinards, and Frank Cunningham of Newberry; and four grandchildren, Brenda McCracken, Brandy Cutshall, Danielle Waldrop, and Courtney Longshore. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cunningham. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Glen Mosteller and the Rev. Wayne Wicker. Interment wasin the church cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and was at the residence, 5238 Crowder Road. Clifton E. “Red” Dorn, 90, of Springfield Place, Newberry, widower of Hattie “Sug” Kesler Dorn, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dorn was born on February 27, 1914 in Anderson County, a son of the late, Thomas O. and Florence Banes Dorn. He was a retired employee of Newberry Mills, a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, a former member of the Congregational Council and a former member of Lutheran Men. Mr. Dorn is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and great great nieces and great great nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Edna Crawford, Margaret Dagenhart, Merle Jones, and Madge Butler and three brothers, Clinton Dorn, Herbert Dorn, and Kenneth Dorn. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Cathryn Livingston Ruff, 94, of 13989 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, widow of Raymond H. Ruff, Sr., died Saturday, December 04, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Ruff was born on September 26, 1910 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late Berry Mosby and Alma Kibler Livingston. She was a 1931 graduate of Newberry College and she taught school in Newberry and Kershaw Counties. She was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church and the Pearl Counts Circle and she was a former Sunday School teacher of the Primary Department for many years and a former member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club. Mrs. Ruff is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Ruff Sease and David E. Sease of Newberry: a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond H. Ruff, Jr. and Vicki Shealy Ruff of Newberry: four grandchildren, Rebecca Harmon Steen, David O. Harmon, Cathryn “Beth” Ruff Jaeger, and Raymond H. Ruff, III; a great granddaughter, Mallorie A. Jaeger; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Owens Livingston of Columbia and Willie Ruff of Prosperity. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Wightman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Eddie Taylor. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
