Tina Andrews Dunn
March 29, 2007

Tina Andrews Dunn, 43, of 495 Blackberry Lane, Pomaria, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dunn was born in Los Angles, CA., a daughter of George B. Andrews and the late Phyllis Keyes McJunkin. She had been a manager and cook in the restaurant industry.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband, Randy Lee Clewis of Pomaria; a daughter, Kim Dunn of Rock Hill; son, Stephen Dunn of Pomaria; a sister, Antoinette Martin of FL.; two brothers, Edward Andrews of Lugoff and Andy Andrews of CA.; one grandchild, Ariel NiKole Dunn of Pomaria.
Funeral services were conducted 10:30 AM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Gooding.

Frances Beatrice Whitehead
March 23, 2007

Frances Beatrice Whitehead, 77, of Camp Care, Inman, SC, formerly of Whitmire, widow of James W. Whitehead, died Friday, March 23, 2007 in Spartanburg.
She was born in Whitmire, a daughter of Jessie Lee Quinn Jones of Inman and the late Charlie Jones. She was a member of Whitmire Baptist Church.
She is Survived by her mother, a nephew, Terry Elrod and a niece, Jackie Senn. She was predeceased by a son, Steven Timothy Alexander and a sister, Flossie Elrod.
Funeral services were conducted at a later date.

Dan G. Livingston
March 21, 2007

Dan G. Livingston, 51, of 2512 S. C. Highway 34/121, Newberry, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Lexington Medical Center.
He was born on June 21, 1955, in Newberry, a son of Estelle F. Livingston and the late Pat Livingston. He was an employee of Gator Construction Company.
Mr. Livingston is survived by his wife, Sandra Knight Livingston; his mother of Newberry; four daughters, Crystal L. Hudson of Newberry, Angie V. Livingston of Prosperity, Courtney D. Livingston and Chelsie N. Livingston both of Newberry; a sister, Martha Hendrix of Newberry; three brothers, Jack P. Livingston of Prosperity, John P. Livingston of GA. and J. Perry Livingston of Newberry; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Debra D. Hunter and brother, Matt B. Livingston.
Graveside funeral services were 2:00 P.M. Friday at New Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

John A. “Jack” Knight
March 14, 2007

John A. “Jack” Knight, 85, of 100 Finley Road Columbia, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at his residence.
Mr. Knight was born in Bamburg, a son of the late Achilles W. and Carrie Spearman Knight. He was an Army veteran of WW II, a retired employee of the S.C. Department of Revenue, a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Columbia, and was an associate member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Pomaria.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Fay Harmon Knight, a circle of extended family, and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund, 2208 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Barshia Kirk Hatfield
March 13, 2007

Barshia Kirk Hatfield, 46, of 200 Fox Fire Rd., Columbia, widow of Stanley Edwin Hatfield, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 following an automobile accident.
Mrs. Hatfield was born on June 12, 1960 in South Williamson, KY, a daughter of the Clyde and Betty Quick Kirk.
She is survived by her parents of Chapin; her son, Ian Kirk Hatfield of Columbia; a sister, Rema (Stephen) Gantt Thomas of Chapin; a brother Barry (Pamela) Kirk of Chapin, a niece, Bethany (Richard) Kirk Long of Blythwood; nephew, Barrett Kirk of Chapin, and a great nephew, Richard T. Long, III.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at the Irmo Church of God by Bishop Randy Caulder. Interment was in Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington.
Visitation was from 6 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin.

Barshia was an unbridled spirit, loved by everyone who knew her. She had a heart as big as Texas and will be missed greatly.

Richard Campell Davis

Richard Campell Davis, 69, of 204 McWhorter Dr., Chappells, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his residence.
Mr. Davis was born January 8, 1938 in Columbia, a son of E. C. and Ethel Davis. He was the retired owner of the Davis Hotel in Columbia and was a member of the American Legion in Columbia.
He is survived by a niece, Angela Hall and nephew, Sammy Thomas both of Columbia. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Thomas.
Private funeral were held.

John J. “Jake” Bodkin
Feb. 28, 2007

John J. “Jake” Bodkin, 70, passed away, February 28, 2007, at his home in Prosperity, SC. He was born March 16 1936, in Weston, WV, a son of the late Warren G. and Mary Orr Bodkin.
Mr. Bodkin graduated from South Charleston High School, South Charleston, WV and he was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a degree in Business Administration. He was a football Letterman while at the University of South Carolina in 1958-59-60. He was All ACC in 1960, he won the Jacobs blocking trophy, was co-captain of the University of South Carolina football team his senior year, and played with the Buffalo Bills in 1961. He was an avid sportsman, hunter, fisher, and golfer.
Mr. Bodkin served in the United States Military with the Special Forces and completed his service with the United States Marines Corps. He attended college after his military service.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl B. Boteler of Richmond, VA and Beth B. McKenzie of Cary NC; five grandchildren; two brothers, Warren G. of Bunker Hill, W VA, and Robin O. Bodkin of Sabastapol, CA; two sisters, Mathilde B. Bosley of Arlington, Virginia, and Cecelia E. Woodward of Homosassa, FA; and two nieces and five nephews.
Services were held at the Rutledge Chapel on the Horseshoe at the University of South Carolina, Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 3:00 P M. Rev. Albert Cox is officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were James Merck, David Nidiffer, David Coates, Melvin Harris, Alex Hawkins, John Saunders, former USC Coach Marvin Bass, Jerry Frye, Gregg Bodkin, George Woodward, and Weems Baskin.

Carolyn Arnold

Carolyn Arnold, 58, of 2976 Wheeland Road, Little Mountain, SC wife of Ted Arnold, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at her residence.
She was born on August 15, 1948 in Timmonsville, SC, a daughter of the late Harris and Elise Floyd Conyers.
She was an employee of Cooper Power Tools, a very active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool Committee and the Bible Study Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by her husband; a daughter, Amber Arnold of Little Mountain; a son, N. Stanley (Cindy) Atkinson, Jr. of Little Mountain; a grandson, Austin Atkinson; two sisters Clydie Spring of Scranton, SC and Faye Jeffords of Timmonsville; and a special grandson, Will Buchanan. She was predeceased by a son, R. Scott Atkinson; three sisters, Maude Jeffords, Naomi Perkins, and Joyce Freeman; and two brothers, John Marvin Conyers and David Conyers.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Fred Suhr. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The family was at the residence and did receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin.

Active pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bible Study Sunday School Class.
