Olin Robert Morris

Olin Robert Morris, 70, of 1926 Benedict St., Newberry, SC, died Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Morris was born on January 11, 1935 in Newberry, the son of the late Olin Simpson and Dollie Turner Morris. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and he was a retired employee of the Independent Life Insurance Co. and of Cornwell Tools, Inc. He was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church, the Newberry Moose Lodge #2211, and the Columbus, IN Knights of Pythias.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Helen Dominick Morris of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Ethel and Bill Stillabower of Columbus, IN, Julie and Robert Pell of Columbia, and Joni and Darrell Smith, and Denise and Steve Pittman all of Lexington; two sisters, Sarah Powell of Newberry and Barbara McAbee of Greenville; and six grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Staci Smith, Kayla Pittman and Morgan Pittman all of Lexington, and Kaitlin Pell and Austin Pell both of Columbia.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 P.M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Bredholt and the Rev. John Weaver. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family was at the residence, 1926 Benedict St.

Geraldine Bass Ellis, 67, of 21 Railroad Ave., Newberry SC, wife of Carroll H. Ellis, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at her residence.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Newberry, a daughter of the late Ernest and Frances Davis Bass. She was a homemaker and a member of the Newberry Church of God.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by husband of the home; a daughter, Melodi Fran Ellis of Newberry; a son,
Jonathan Paul Branton of Lexington, KY; a brother, Steve Bass of Newberry; and three grandchildren, Chelsea Frances Acs, Eric Branton and Chad Branton.
Funeral Services were conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the Newberry Church of God by the Rev. Daniel Nash. Interment was in the Springdale Section of Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home

Katharine Graham Wade, 86, of Americus,Ga. died Tuesday, April, 19, 2005.
Mrs Wade was born on May 1918, in Clinton,SC, a daughter of the late Bothwell and Katharine Louise Bean Graham. She was a former librarian at Asheville-Biltmore College in Asheville, NC and at the Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta, GA
Mrs. Wade is survived by her children Frances and Richard Crozier of Blakely, GA. and Rev. William B. Wade, Jr. and Theodosia Wade of Covington, Ga.; a sister Elizabeth Graham McCaskill of Conway; a sister-in-law Eleanor Zientara Graham of Columbia; and seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, by Dr. William Bean Kennedy. Interment was Rosemont Cemetery.

Barbara Felker Pitts Comingore

Barbara Felker Pitts Comingore, 75, of 2203 Harper Street, Newberry, wife of Alfred Bruce “Charlie” Comingore, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Comingore was born on May 16, 1929 in Newberry, a daughter of the late Roland H. and Myrtle Ringer Felker. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She was a member of the Newberry Lions Club and a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. She was a retired hostess at the Newberry Community Hall and was a former school teacher. She was first married to the late L.C. Pitts, III.
Mrs. Comingore is survived by her husband of the home, and a son and two daughters-in-law; Bobby Louis and Susan N. Pitts of Eau Claire, WI, and Lisa Pantano of Butte, MT; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Walter Pitts.
Funeral services were 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Steven Counts. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were M.C. Yarbrough, John Paul Whitaker, Ken Roehrs, Gary Felker, Bill Riley, and Gene Williamson.

Lillie Mae Folk

Lillie Mae Folk, 82, of 1421 Wheeler Street, Newberry died Thursday April 7, 2005 at her residence.
Miss Folk was born August 28, 1922 in Newberry, a daughter of the late Christian Milton and Lily May Caldwell Brown Folk. She was a life long member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church, a member of the church choir, an officer of the WELCA and served on various committees of the church. She was retired from J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Miss Folk is survived by a sister, Mary F. Lominick of Pomaria; eight nieces and nephews, Olin Lominick, Jr., Jane L. Ringer, Bobby F. Lominick, Chris F. Lominick, Dianne Lominick, M. Hayne Folk, J. Wayne Folk, and J. David Folk; a number of great nieces and nephews; and a number of great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Hamilton Folk, James D. Brown, and R. Haskell Brown and a sister, Sarah Adelaide Folk.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P. M. Saturday at the Beth-Eden Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The family was at the residence, 1421 Wheeler Street, Newberry.

Mary Ouzts Chappell, 95, widow of Thomas E. Chappell died Wednesday, April 06, 2005 at White Oak Manor.
Mrs. Chappell was born on August 13, 1909 in Edgefield County, a daughter of the late James M. and Janie Ouzts. She was a retired employee of Newberry Mills and a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Chappell is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Robert Coats and Edith and Leroy Minick, both of Newberry; one sister, Ollie Hiller of Newberry; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great great granddaughters. She was predeceased by a son, John Henry Chappell, two brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday in West End Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum.
Visitation was from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home. The family was at the home of Nancy and Robert Coats, 1225 Summer Street, Newberry.

Edel Varnes Shealy, 88, formerly of 1416 Trent Street, Newberry, died Tuesday April 5, 2005 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Shealy was born on March 11, 1917 in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lillie Varnes. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Shealy is survived by two daughters; Jackie S. Long of Newberry and Patricia S. Pryor of Walterboro; two grandchildren; Greg Pryor of Walterboro and Michelle Feeley of Sabastian, FL and 5 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charles Aurand.

Ewell G. Cotney, 82, of Springfield Place, Newberry, widower of Hazel Bedenbaugh Cotney, died Monday, April 04, 2005 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cotney was born in Newberry, a son of the late James N. and Florence Stockman Cotney. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a former employee of Spartan Grain and the Newberry Airport. He was a member of Lewis United Methodist Church and he was a Mason and Shriner.
Mr. Cotney is survived by a daughter, Vickie C. Powell of Anderson; one sister, Elizabeth C. Cohen of Greenwood; four bothers, Boyd Cotney, Troy Cotney, J. D. Cotney and Birtrium Cotney all of Newberry; two grandchildren, Jennifer Powell and Nicholas Powell of Anderson; and a special friend, Earlene Boland of Chapin. He was predeceased three sisters, Virginia Shealy, Ruby Huffstetler and Etta Mae Dominick and two brothers, Virgil Lee Cotney and Nelson Cotney.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Lewis United Methodist Church by the Rev. Walter Green and the Rev. Wako Cotney. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller was born in Newberry, a son of the late Alphonso F. and Sara Wertz Miller.
Mr. Miller is survived by wife, Patsy Harmon Miller of Newberry; two daughters, Jinks Machelle Miller Dupre’ of Navarre Beach, FL and Samantha Jill Miller of Prosperity; a son, Joe R. Miller, Jr. of Gulf Breeze, FL; a son-in-law, Barry Dupre’; a daughter-in-law, Kim M. Miller; a sister, Mary M. Beck of Newberry; two granchildren, Charles R. Folk, Jr. of Prosperity and Megan M. Miller of Gulf Breeze, FL. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jean Miller and a brother, Richard Gerald Miller.
