Ken Sharpe
June 27, 2006

Ken Sharpe, 59, of 567 Shelter Bay Ridge, Prosperity, husband of Nora Sharpe, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Sharpe was born on September 7, 1946, in Paterson, NJ, a son of the late Kenneth and Helen Brine Sharpe. He was a carpenter for West Development. He was a member of Pompton Reform Church, Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Mr. Sharpe is survived by his wife Nora of Prosperity, a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Anthony Martinelli of Pompton Plains, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Major Gregory Kenneth and Silviya Ivanova Panayotova Sharpe of West Point, NY; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Julianna Martinelli. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Sharpe.
Memorial services was conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Mickey Hayward. There was also be a memorial service for Ken in his hometown, Pompton Lakes, NJ at a later date.
Visitation was from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the residence.

Margaret Sease Hanna
June 24, 2006

Margaret Sease Hanna, 99, widow of G. Frank Hanna died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at J. F. Hawkins Health Care.
Mrs. Hanna was born on October 16, 1906, in Newberry, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Jacob E. and Mary Lee Ora Lominack Sease. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Newberry ARP Church.
Mrs. Hanna is survived by two daughters, Mary Sease Hanna of Newberry and Linda H. Erwin of Savannah, Georgia; a granddaughter, Leigh K. Baker and her husband, Marlin; a great grandson Jacob Baker and great granddaughter, Megan Baker, all of Rincon, GA. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by three brothers, Robert T. Sease, L. Heyward Sease, and J. Ellerbe Sease and two sisters, Edna S. Sharpe and Evelyn S. Boozer.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Tony Locke and the Rev. Dr. Tim Erskine. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6:30 to 7:30 P. M. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund or to the Pew Restoration Fund of the Newberry ARP Church, 1701 Main St., Newberry SC 29108.
Active pallbearers were Ronald Boozer, Mike Cannon, Mike Windhorn, Ken Boozer, Clyde Brown, Jean Williamson, Jessie Folk, and Norman Bunn.

Dorothy “Dot” Ruff North Way

Dorothy “Dot” Ruff North Way, 82, of 1805 Harper St., Newberry, widow of Powell Way, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Way was born October 4, 1923 in Newberry, a daughter of the late W. Charles “Charlie” and Mary Stevenson Ruff.
Mrs. Way was a homemaker and a member of Lewis United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard and loved being with her grandchildren and her great –granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Katherine Smith of Natchez, MS; two sons, John R. North of Lexington and Bill North of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren, Tracey Enfinger, Suzanne McGhee, Becky North, Julia Smith, Anna Smith, Dottie Smith, and John North; one great granddaughter, Ava Enfinger; and a cousin, Frances Counts. She was predeceased by a son, Steve North, a brother, W. Charles “Charlie” Ruff, and a cousin, Julia Smith.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10:30 AM, Tuesday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Walter Green.
Visitation was from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that you honor her memory by making a memorial to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

F. Kibler Moon
June 21, 2006

F. Kibler Moon, 81, of 2635 Main Street, Newberry, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Moon was born on September 26, 1924 in Newberry, the son of the late Fred T. and Carrie Mae Wheelis Moon. He attended Newberry College and received an associate’s degree. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served as a medic for the Marines in the Pacific Theatre stationed in Guam. He was a retired Office Manager of Senn Trucking Company, a member of the Central United Methodist Church, and the Chesley Cannon Bible Class. He was an honorary member of the Exchange Club having been a member for 35 years.
Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Jenny DeHihns Moon; and a brother-in-law, Billy DeHihns of the home. He was predeceased by a sister, Corinne Moon.
Funeral services were conducted 4:00 P. M. Friday at Central United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. John Miller. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family did receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P. M. Thursday at the residence, 2635 Main Street, Newberry

Mildred "Millie" Boozer Price

Mildred “Millie” Boozer Price, 81, formerly of 1228 Jones St., Newberry, wife of E. Lewis Price, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at J. F. Hawkins Healthcare.
Mrs. Price was born on September 30, 1924 in the Stoney Hill section of Newberry County, a daughter of the late James V. “Jim Bo” and Freddie Dawkins Boozer.
Mrs. Price was a retired nurse having worked for Dr. E.G. Able for 21 years, Whitten Center for 15 years and Drs. Underwood, Epting, and Green until her retirement. She was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church and the Newberry Moose Lodge.
Mrs. Price is survived by her husband of Newberry; a son, E. Lewis “Lewie” Price, Jr. of Newberry; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia Fay and Billy McSwain of Prosperity; and two grandchildren, Susannah Price and Brittany Price.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 P.M. Monday at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Charles Dawkins and the Rev. Kathy Harris. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Ruth Richardson Koon

Ruth Richardson Koon, 94, formerly 1689 Peak Road, Pomaria, widow of Thomas Clyde Koon, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home, Newberry.
Mrs. Koon was born on September 27, 1911 in Richland County, a daughter of the late John Burley and Mary E. Eleazer Richardson. She was a homemaker and was a member of Pomaria Lutheran Church and W. E. L. C. A.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda K. and George Long of Pomaria; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Norma R. Richardson of Pomaria; two sisters, Emily Wilson, and Thelma Farr of Irmo; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted 11:00 AM Saturday at Pomaria Lutheran Church by Rev. Dr. Mary Havens. Interment was in the Pomaria cemetery.
Visitation was from 6:30 to 7:30 P. M. Friday at the funeral Home and the family was at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Long, 1689 Peak Road, Pomaria.

Joyce Leslie Setzler, 76, formerly of 1509 College Street, Newberry, widow of Tommie Paysinger Setzler, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Setzler was born on October 27, 1929, in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Della Matthews Leslie. She was a retired employee of the South Carolina Employment Security Commission and a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, D. A. R. and U. D. C.
Mrs. Setzler is survived by two daughters and sons-in- law, Natalie S. and William B. Davis of Summerton and Pamela S. and W. Gary Wise of Lilburn, Ga; a brother, Gordon Leslie of Newberry; four grandchildren, Jason Wise, William B. Davis, Jr., Benjamin Davis, and Jane Marie Davis Chapman; two great grandchildren, Davis Chapman and Stephanie Jane Joyce Davis. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Leslie Outz.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Steven Counts.
Visitation was from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rosemary Folk Oxner

Rosemary Folk Oxner, 74, widow of the late Rudolph Oxner, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the Lexington Medical Center.
She was born on May 18, 1932 in Newberry, a daughter of the late James H. and Ruth M. Folk. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
She was first married to the late Virgil C. Bouknight and they had three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law. She is survived by, Bobby and Linda D. Bouknight of Pomaria, David and Barbara W. Bouknight of Chester and John and Toni M. Bouknight of Prosperity; Rosemary was blessed with seven grandchildren and spouses, Kim Bouknight, Andy and Jaimie Bouknight, Dee Dee and Jay Peel, Jamie Bouknight, Brad Bouknight, Julie and Thomas Varadore, Dave Bouknight; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Tonya S. Crapps of Jacksonville, FL and her two children; three sisters, Sue Folk of Columbia, Lou Folk of Biloxi, MS, and Ester Taylor of Batesburg-Leesville; and a brother, Sonny Folk of Woodruff.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 P. M. Sunday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Steven Counts. Interment was at a later date.
Visitation was from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Carroll Jefferson “Jeff” Ringer, 74, of Midland Center, 8301 Farrow Road, Walnut Residence, Columbia, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Palmetto Richland Hospital.
Mr. Ringer was born on October 9, 1931, in Pomaria, a son of the late Thomas E. and Ola Mae Miller Ringer. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pomaria.
Mr. Ringer is survived by three brothers, Thomas E. Ringer, Jr. of Columbia, Hoyt Ringer and Richard Ringer both of Pomaria; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Phillip Coggins.
