Herbert Jerome “Jerry” Hoeschen, 84, of Newberry died on December 26, 2019 at his residence.

Jerry was born on June 4, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, the only child of Herbert B. and Ella Kirwin Hoeschen. He grew up in the Minneapolis area and moved to the Cleveland, OH area as a young man. His work career was quite diverse. In his early career, he spent 15 years in management with American Greetings, serving as plant manager in Mexico City the last three of those years. He discovered the South when he took a position in Laurens, SC at E L Mansure Company. It was during this time that he along with a friend formed their company The Outer Edge which later developed into Metal Masters located in Jalapa, SC. In his last years at Metal Masters, Jerry also served as a consultant for Dupont and as the site manager for three of the Dupont locations.

Jerry had a very sharp mind and experienced life day by day never looking back with regret but rather appreciated each day and all the many adventures and opportunities of his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lillian Waldrep Hoeschen; children, Randall Jerome (Melissa) Hoeschen of Memphis, TN, Matthew Richard (Sarah) Hoeschen of Greenville, SC and Terry Boyd Brooks (Chris) of Newberry; grandchildren, Leo David Hoeschen, Lindsey Waldrop, and Madison and Peyton Reppart.
