Adgie Felker Chappell, 84, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Born on August 7, 1941, in Newberry County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Blanch Dennis and John William Felker.
Adgie was an active member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church for many years and was grateful for the lasting friendships she made through the church Supper Club group. Music held a special place in her heart, her favorite song being “Halleluiah”.
Adgie enjoyed being in nature. In her younger years, she showed horses and continued riding horses for many years. Her favorite family vacations included the lakes, riding trails, and mountains of Georgia and Tennessee. She especially liked trips to Helen, Ga and Pigeon Forge, TN.
She was a devoted homemaker, dedicating her life to creating a warm and comforting home for her family. She was a great cook and often could be found in the kitchen. Christmas was a particularly special time for Adgie, as she took great joy in celebrating and decorating with her family, creating a place of warmth and laughter during the holiday season. Affectionately known as, Nana, she loved her family deeply and her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren, and her wonderful great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her sons, John Chappell (Deanne Sweet) and David Chappell; grandchildren, Logan Chappell, Blake Chappell, and Danielle Chappell Sligh (Dylan); great-granddaughter, Adalynn Sligh; sister, Ernestine Chaplin (Tommy); nephew, Kent Chaplin (Holly); and nieces, Brande Fanara (Anthony) and Sandy Price (“Picky”).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe H. Chappell; sisters, Ellie Halfacre and Mary Helen Slice; and her brother, John Felker.
