Agnes Fuller Blalock died Tuesday June 22 2010 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home Newberry SC at the age of 86. Mrs. Blalock is the wife of William Moore Blalock former executive vice-president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank Holly Hill SC also resident at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born in Clinton SC Mrs. Blalock attended Presbyterian College where she was a football cheerleader and their first Homecoming Queen in 1941. Graduating from Spartanburg General Hospital as a registered nurse in 1945 she became a member of the Army Cadet Nurse Corp serving at Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta GA. After working in Arlington VA Mrs. Blalock worked as a nurse at Newberry County Memorial Hospital Newberry SC. It was there that she met and married William (Bill) Blalock a local band leader on June 30 1946. Upon relocating to Holly Hill SC Mrs. Blalock became an administrative assistant in the Holly Hill Public School System. Prior to her retirement she worked along with her husband at the Farmers and Merchants Bank where she organized travel arrangements for the Horizon 60 club. The Blalocks retired to Eutawville SC in 1987 where she continued to pursue her interest in painting gardening and cooking. The Blalocks were long-time members of the Holly Hill United Methodist Church where all enjoyed her culinary skills. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters Susan B. Broom (Ted) of Ambler PA and Morgaan Sinclair (Valerie) of Encinada CA; four grandchildren Jordan Reese (Sarah) and Trevor Broom all of Philadelphia PA Alexandra Bustelo (Jorge) of Miami FL and Ari Schutz; one great-granddaughter Grace Bustelo; two sisters Doris Marsh (Calvert) of Columbia SC and Nell Adams of Boone NC; one brother Floyd Fuller (Edith) of Boone NC; two sisters-in-law Ann Fuller of Clinton SC and Elizabeth Phillips of Camden SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Johnny Fuller. A memorial service for Mrs. Blalock will be held on Saturday June 26 2010 at 2:30 PM in the parlor at Springfield Place 2000 Springfield Circle Newberry SC. Burial at Newberry Memorial Gardens will be private. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to the J.F.
