Aleesa Owens Vaughan, 68, of Newberry died Monday November 8, 2021.
Born in South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Livingston Owens.
During her childhood, Aleesa and her family traveled all over the world as her father's career in the military took them to new places. Eventually settling back in Newberry, Aleesa graduated Newberry College and started a career as a teacher, focusing on the education of those with special needs, and worked for many years at Whitten Center in Clinton.
Some of Aleesa's favorite pastimes included fishing, boat rides, and spending time at the beach. She loved the outdoors and being on her trike. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed many trips to Bike Week at Myrtle Beach and taking day trips to Lake Lure. She also liked her tv shows – cooking shows and game shows were some of her favorites, but one better not interrupt her during her soap operas, especially Days of Our Lives.
Aleesa always loved animals – growing up with a wide variety of pets, she always had room in her heart for her furry friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnathan Aull and Cindy Picklesimer; grandson, Bryson L. Aull; and many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" D. Vaughan and her sister, Faith Dewey Owens.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe at 11:30 AM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. Burial will follow in Colony Lutheran Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Graves, Donnie Berry, Brandon Berley, David Gillian, Larry Foster, and Steve Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home.
Memories and messages of comfort may be left for the family here on Aleesa's tribute wall.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to assist the family.
