It is with great sadness that the family of Alexis "Al" John Heil announces his passing after a brief illness, on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Al was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Lea and his daughters, Bethany and Tracy Ann. He is survived by his sons Richard and his wife Cynthia of Jonesboro, Georgia, Alexis "AJ" and his wife Tammy of Marietta, Georgia; and his daughter Monica and her husband Peter of Woodstock, Georgia; 5 grandsons, Jason, Spencer, Andrew, Jacob, and Peter; 6 granddaughters, Tracey, Jessyca, Taylor, Megyne, Rachel, and Rebecca. He is also survived by his brother Robert of West Palm Beach, FL, and by 10 great-grandchildren. Al was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as manager of Owens- Illinois in Newberry and was a faithful member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf and after his retirement, he was employed by the Country Club of Newberry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00 AM in St. Mark's Catholic Church, 928 Boundary Street. Interment will follow in St. Mark's Cemetery.
