Alida Erickson Greene died peacefully on December 4 2011 in Newberry South Carolina. Born in Canton Illinois in 1918 she was the daughter of the late John August and Ellen Bergin and Emma and Charles Erickson. An active member of the Lutheran Church since her baptism she became a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge Tennessee in 1945 and has been active in that congregation since that time. She married Ralph Everett Greene in 1941 and they settled in Oak Ridge near the end of World War II. Prior to moving to Oak Ridge she attended Moline Business College and later worked at several businesses in the Moline area. Survivors include her daughters Suzanne Greene Ingold (and husband Edward Ingold) of Mundelein IL Karen Greene Scott (and husband Mark Scott) of Newberry SC; her grandchildren: David Ingold of Mundelein IL Paul Ingold of Chicago IL Mark Ingold of Seattle WA Elise Scott of Chicago IL Anna Scott Magann of Murrells Inlet SC and Monica Scott of Columbia SC. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph E. Greene brothers Carl Bergin and John Bergin; and sister Mildred Peterson. Alida was loved by her family and friends and was noted in her community for her kindness her compassion her love of gardening and her active ministry to those in need in her community and the church. A member of Arissa Garden Club of Oak Ridge she was also noted for her active and long-term participation in the club. A memorial service celebrating her life and relationships did occur at 2:00 p.m. Friday December 16 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church 131 Gettysburg Ave. Oak Ridge Tn. The family did receive friends at the church following the service. A family interment service was prior to the Memorial service in Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens.
