Obituary

Allison Dawkins Jasinski, 47, of Chapin, died Friday, September 15, 2023, after a long battle with chronic kidney disease.

Born on October 2, 1975, she was a daughter of Robert "Bobby" and Mary Helen Whitaker Dawkins.

Allison was a graduate of Clemson University and was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. After college, she worked as a social worker for the Disabilities and Special Needs Board. Her most cherished job was as a stay-at-home mom to her daughter, Anna, and son, Whit.

Allison was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed simple things – family camping trips at Lake Murray with her best friend, Julie, going to amusement parks with Brian and the kids, and talking on the phone with loved ones. Her favorite pastime was being on the back porch, cheering on her beloved Tigers with family and friends. Allison loved animals, especially her fur babies, Beamer and Willow.

Over the course of her life, Allison faced much adversity, out of which grew a person of deep faith, courage, and love. As she underwent her treatments, she bravely shared the realities of her experiences, the good and the bad, to raise awareness on social media and let others know they were not alone. Friends enjoyed her quick wit and her honesty about life with a chronic illness. Allison looked for ways to help others and if she knew of someone in need, she worked hard to find solutions to support them.

She was proud of the home she and Brian built, and especially of their children, Anna and Whit. She loved them deeply – enough even to ride the big roller coasters – and spent countless hours capturing photos and documenting their adventures. She loved her friends, whether she knew them for five minutes or a lifetime. Allison was also deeply loved by her family and friends.

Allison drew upon her faith to give her the courage she needed to face each day. She surrounded herself with earthly angels to lift her up when she needed, and in turn she lifted up others in their times of need. Despite all odds, she never stopped believing, she truly had "Defiant Hope."

Allison, and everyone who loves her, will be eternally grateful to her three amazing organ donors–her sister Heather, childhood friend Brannon Weeks, and sorority sister Carol Brody–for giving us these last twenty-seven years with her.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Brian Jasinski; daughter, Anastasia "Anna" Jasinski; and son, Paul Whitaker "Whit" Jasinski; sister, Heather Stalker (Neil); brother, Benji Dawkins (Heather); aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Daniel Hagmaier on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, Chapin. Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, and again on Wednesday, September 20 prior to the service from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church.
