IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alma Taylor
Force
December 3, 1930 – January 19, 2025
Alma Taylor Force, 94, of Prosperity, peacefully passed away at Springfield Place on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Born in Newberry on December 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Berley Ira and Eula Mae Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Derrell Force, who she married August 12, 1950. Together they raised their three sons (Derrell, David, and Danny) who were her pride and joy.
Alma was a woman of many talents. In addition to working for Dr. Rinehart in Newberry, she loved doing arts and crafts, baking, reading, and serving her community in various ways. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church of Newberry and was presented the Special Mission Recognition Award by the United Methodist Women. For many years, she would make various handmade gifts and donate them each month to the residents at Springfield Place. Alma was also well known for her delicious pound cakes, of which there were many varieties. She would generously share these cakes with friends and family.
In addition to her church, she was active in the Newberry Chapter #226 of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Newberry chapter and was very active in the state chapter. She and Vernon traveled throughout the United States attending functions in support of the organization's mission of service to each other and their communities.
Alma was devoted to her family and was proud to be called "Granny". She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Derrell and Terry Kay (Newton) Force, David T. and Cathey (Moseley) Force, and Daniel C. and Angela (Padua) Force; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to especially thank Chris Abbott who served as her Stephen's Minister and became like a sister to her, faithfully visiting her and bringing her books to read.
A private interment will be held at Newberry Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00pm at Central United Methodist Church, Newberry, SC. Visitation will follow in Henry Hall at the church.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Tumblin, Bobby Clark, Brent Willingham, Richard Crumpton, Dr. Bob McCartha, and Howard Coggins.
Honorary Pallbearers are John Paul Whitaker, Merritt Moseley and members of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Central United Methodist Church-Stained Glass Window Fund, PO Box 67, 1005 College St., Newberry SC 29108 or a local charity of your choice.
Memories and messages may be shared with the family here on her tribute page.
