Anne Carraway Martin passed away on August 17, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland, surrounded by her loving children.

Anne was born on April 23, 1940, to William B. Carraway and Beatrice Scott Carraway in Kingstree, SC.

She attended Kingstree schools, graduating from Kingstree High School in 1958. She graduated from Winthrop College, Class of 1962, with a Major in Business Education. In 1978 she received a Master's Degree in Teaching from The University of South Carolina.

In High School, Anne served in many areas: Class Vice President, President of Y-Teens, and Editor of the Yearbook. She was also Homecoming Queen and Miss Kingstree High. While at Winthrop, she was the Campus Auditor and Business Manager of the Yearbook. She was Maid of Honor in the May Court and the Winthrop Beauty Court.

After college, Anne taught High School for 30 years. First at Eau Claire, then Northside Junior High in Greenwood, SC, Piedmont Tech, Keenan High, and retired from Richland Northeast High in 1999, where she was elected Teacher of the Year in 1979.

Anne has been a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church since 1986 and served as Circle Chair for Daughters of the King, Vice-President of the Sisters in Christ Sunday School class, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Women in the Church for over 20 years.

Anne was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Parker. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Shook (Scott) and sons Richard Arnold (Michele) and Michael Arnold. Also, grandchildren Will Arnold, Claire Arnold, Alex Shook, Riley Shook, and Harrison Shook.

Visitation will be at Whitaker Funeral Home on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Burial will be at Newberry Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10:00 am.

In remembrance of Anne's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital and Pets Inc.
