Anne McFarland Kirtley 68 of Chapin died at her home on Saturday June 27 2015 following her courageous 10 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 1 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Chapin SC with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Born on October 15 1946 in Washington DC she was the daughter of the late Jean and Carter McFarland. She was married for 50 years to her beloved husband Edward Lynn Kirtley who was the love of her life. She also is survived by her two wonderful children; son Christopher Kirtley and his wife Pat of Chapin SC and daughter Michelle Johnston and her husband Robert of New Orleans LA; her very special grandchildren Steven Elizabeth Sydney and Addison; her sister Diana DelVecchio and brother-in-law John of Rockville MD and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law who along with their families and many loving friends and neighbors helped sustain and support her throughout her valiant fight. The outpouring of love through every card call care package and many meals lifted her spirit and gave purpose to continue her battle against cancer. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her two beautiful children. Her greatest joy was found in the casual precious moments spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a loyal friend and will be remembered for her kindness beautiful smile and willingness to offer a helping hand to those in need. She was also an animal lover who opened her homes through the years to many rescued dogs all who became beloved members of her family. Her most recent rescue was her beloved therapy dog Sassy Grace who never left her side during her illness.
