Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Julius DelSignore, age 86 of Irmo, died November 23, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Born August 5, 1939 in Sulmona, Italy, he was a son of the late Arthur and Irma Giampietro DelSignore. He was married for 51 years to Rena Minnow DelSignore.

Tony began his lifelong career in manufacturing at U.S. Steel in Ohio, where he developed the strong work ethic and technical knowledge that would define his professional life. His dedication to the steel and ball-bearing industry took him to several locations over the years, including Tennessee, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, and finally South Carolina, where he settled with his family in 1993. After arriving in South Carolina, Tony joined Consolidated Systems, where his leadership, loyalty, and commitment to excellence led him to become Vice President. He retired from Consolidated Systems in 2005 after a distinguished career marked by integrity, problem-solving, and the deep respect of colleagues who trusted and admired him.

Tony found his greatest joy in the people he loved, especially his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than teaching them something new, sharing stories from his life, or simply being present with them. He had a gift for passing down knowledge — whether it was about work ethic, faith, or life — and his grandchildren cherished every moment with him. At home, Tony loved being outdoors. His yard was his peaceful place, and his garden was his pride. He tended his tomato plants with patience and care, always excited to share the harvest with family. It was one of the places where he felt most himself.

Each day, he spent time reading his Bible. His faith grounded him, guided him, and remained steady throughout his life. That quiet daily practice was one of his greatest comforts and one of the truest reflections of who he was.

Tony will be remembered most for his steady presence, his strong work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family. He was the kind of man you could depend on — reliable, honest, and always willing to help. Whether he was working around the house, offering advice, or simply listening, Tony was a quiet anchor for the people he loved. He will also be remembered for his gentle way with his grandchildren. He taught by example, with patience and kindness, and his legacy lives on in the knowledge and confidence he passed down to them. They will forever remember "Papa" as their teacher, protector, and friend.

Those who knew Tony will remember his humility, his faith, and his willingness to put others before himself. He never needed recognition; doing the right thing was simply who he was. His garden, his conversations, his stories, and his way of showing up for people — these are the parts of Tony that will never fade. Most of all, Tony will be remembered for the loving, dependable man he was: a devoted husband, a dedicated father, a proud grandfather, and a true blessing to everyone whose lives he touched.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Rena DelSignore of Irmo, South Carolina; his daughters, Tracy DelSignore and Lisa Knoche (Steven); his beloved grandchildren, Sophia DelSignore, Justin DelSignore, Caleb Knoche, and Carson Knoche; and his sister, Josephine George (Bill). He was preceded in death only by his loving mother and father.
