Ms. April Monique Bickley, age 39, died February 5, 2022 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born December 19, 1982 in Newberry, SC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas R. Counts and Ms. Donna B. Counts. She was an employee of Samsung and also had a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. The best word to describe April is "Love." She was a loving mother, sister, and daughter, and was the kind of person who showed love to others in her presence and in the way she lived her life. April was a strong person who fought hard for what mattered to her. The eldest of her sisters and cousins, April was looked up to as the one to call when there was news to share and special moments to celebrate. She will be dearly missed. April is survived by two devoted daughters who were the center of her love and joy, Nya Arianna Oxner and A'Kira Justice Thompson. She is also survived by others who celebrate her life and cherish her loving memory, including her two sisters, Brandy Counts of Prosperity and Shayla (Calvin) Herbert of Chapin; her maternal grandparents James (Sue Ann) Bickley of Prosperity; three devoted aunts, Rhonda Bickley, Nita Ruff and Rita Ruff; three uncles, Clayron Ruff, David Counts and Bennie Counts; two nieces and a host of loving and devoted cousins and sorrowing friends all of whom grieve her departure but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord. April was proceeded into heaven by her father and her paternal grandparents Mildred (Thomas) Counts and Murray (Louise) Ruff, two aunts, and five uncles. Graveside funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Henry Williams on Wednesday, February 9 at 1:00 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens, 15127 CR Koon Hwy. A time of viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry.
