Arthur R. "Ronnie" Atkinson, 76, of Prosperity, died Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home. Born in Hartsville, South Carolina on May 8, 1945, he was a son of the late William and Margaret Lewis Atkinson. Ronnie was a simple man with a "heart of gold" and a loyal and generous spirit. He loved living life on the lake, fishing, being on his boat, and just looking out at the water. Family was important to Ronnie and he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his hobbies and interests with them. Ronnie is survived by his step-sons, Joseph Hartsell, Jr. (Missy) of Carlisle, SC, and Jamie Hartsell; step-daughter, Jandon Weir; brother, Billy Atkinson (Kay) of Cross Hill, SC; Grandchildren, Jessi, Jewel, and Joanie Hartsell and Jake Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Flynn Seader. Along with his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Janice Annette Mobley Atkinson. The happiest moment of his life was marrying Janice in 1987. The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Ronnie's name to The Shriners Hospitals for Children.
