IN LOVING MEMORY OF
B. Roger
Hair
March 17, 1939 – January 16, 2026
B. Roger Hair, 86, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Born on March 17, 1939, in Bamberg County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Fannie and JB Hair.
He was a technician for AT&T for 40 years, working in the southeastern United States. In his off time, he repaired CB radios for truck drivers, and his handle was "Doc".
An active member in the Newberry Moose Lodge #2211, Roger held the highest degree of honor, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. A testament to his exceptional service and his commitment to volunteer work.
Roger was known for his kind heart and dependability. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer support to anyone who needed it. Anyone who knew him would agree that he was "so very there, so very kind." Roger cherished his wife deeply, always striving to give her the best life possible.
Handy with everything, Roger found immense enjoyment in building things. Whether it was electronics, carpentry, or mechanics, he was the man to go to with a question. If he wasn't working on a new project or out on his tractor, he could be seen taking a ride on his tri-wheel motorcycle. But no matter what, he always made time for the people he cherished and his German Shepherd dogs, whom he loved dearly.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Mary Butkiewicz Hair; his children, Mike Hair (Tina), Windy Gaines (Ed), Gwen Hair Whtiman (Paul), Shawn Hair (Sheena); his four grandchildren, Morgan, Darian, Kiley, Jennifer and Cristen; as well as a great-grandson Caleb.
Memorials in Rogers Honor may be made to the Newberry Animal Shelter, 240 Public Works Drive, Newberry, SC 29108.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Roger Hair.
