Barbara Croy Baughman, 91, of Newberry, SC, died on Monday, March 6, 2023 in Raleigh, NC.

Born on May 29, 1931 in Coshocton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Vance and Minnie Dickerson Croy.

Barbara was an active member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and a Vacation Bible School Teacher. She was an avid reader and made the best homemade brownies.

She was very passionate about causes she believed in. She was active in the Newberry Soil and Water Conservation and was a spokesperson for many years for the Women Involved in Farm Economics Association. She was active in the Republican Party, she volunteered at polls and ran several campaigns for State Senators and Congressman.

Barbara and her husband, Dick, were a good team. She raised four children and ran the household operations while Dick worked to support the family. Later, when Dick decided he wanted to have a pecan grove, she drove the tractor while he planted the trees.

Barbara was non-judgmental, kind, and generous - a true friend and a good role model. She loved Jesus and her grandchildren. She had a great smile and will be truly missed.

She is survived by her children, Becky B. Lea (Randy) of Newberry, Sue Moody (Mike), Jill Bartholomew (Steve) and, Mark Baughman (Sandy) all of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Douglas Lea (Lindsay), Kyle Lea (Melissa), Jordon Moody, Megan Moody, Ryan Bartholomew (Kaitlin), Jessica B. Jones (Travis), Cade Baughman (Anna), and Kara Carroll (Bryant); and fourteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Richard "Dick" B. Baughman; great-grandson, Anthony Cole Carroll; and brother, David "Doc" Croy.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dan Ratchford on Saturday, March 11 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Newberry, SC. Visitation will be at 12:00pm, Service at 1:00pm; followed by graveside service and reception.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Bartholomew, Steve Bartholomew, Cade Baughman, Doug Lea, Kyle Lea, Randy Lea, Jordan Moody, and Mike Moody.
