Barbara Jean Cooper Gilliam 69 of 118 ODell St Whitmire died March 11 2012 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 31 1942 in Whitmire SC a daughter of the late Lester Rossi and Cleo Campbell Cooper. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday March 15 2012 at Central Avenue Baptist Church Whitmire by the Rev. Wako Cotney Rev. Dewayne Goins and Rev. Paul Rowe. Interment was in Whitmire Cemetery. The family was at the residence 118 ODell St. Whitmire and did receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Central Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilliam was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church in Whitmire. She worked for many years in the textile industry was an avid doll collector and a loyal Elvis fan. Most importantly Mrs. Gilliam was a great mother and a loving grandmother. Mrs. Gilliam is survived by her daughters Charlene Nichols and husband Mike and Darlene Baxley and husband Russell all of Newberry; sons Christopher Wayland Gilliam and Rev. Tony W. Dickert and wife Lenora all of Whitmire; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and a brother Gary Cooper of Union. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Charles Wayland Gilliam; a son Charles Wayland Gilliam Jr.; grandson Joshua Wayne Dickert; great-grandson Tony Wayland Dickert; and brothers Carl and Eugene Gene Cooper. Active pallbearers will be James Moe Harris Daniel Garland Scott Dickert Gary Rocky Cooper Darelle Cooper Joe Cooper and Joshua Rowe. Honorary pallbearers will be John Roche Jr. and Rev.
