Bernice Metts Turner 90 of Newberry died Friday May 11 2012 at Springfield Place Newberry. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Monday at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to the service at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. Born on April 17 1922 in Newberry County she was the daughter of the late Callie Bembridge and Ara Cannon Metts. Mrs. Turner worked as a Spinner and retired from the Kendall Company Oakland Plant. She was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir. Survivors include her granddaughter Scherry (Kenneth) Griffith of Neeses; two great-grandchildren Kenlee Griffith and Autumn Craig of Neeses; daughter-in-law Mary (Tony) Wilcox of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband J. Howard Fat Turner; son Jerry H. Turner and brothers Haskell Metts Voight Metts Tommy Lee Metts Charles Metts Claude Metts and George Metts.
