Bertha Long Harmon, 82, of Newberry died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.
Mrs. Harmon was born on November 22, 1936 in Newberry a daughter of the late James Long and Cleo Sanders Long Boozer. She graduated from Newberry High School and her working career included jobs at Joanna, Newberry, Greenwood and Mollohon Cotton Mills.
She was a member of Queens Memorial Presbyterian Church. She lived her life loving and caring about others, especially cherishing her children and grandchildren.
For sixty-five years ,she was married to Kenneth Donald "Donnie" Harmon who survives her. She is also survived by a son, Dale Harmon of Newberry; brother, Ray Long (Vivian) of Newberry; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Helen Shaw and Mary Kinard. Bertha was predeceased by her daughters, Christi H. Epps, Lesa Anne Harmon and Nita Jo Coffey; and her siblings, Jim Long, Alvin Long, Annie Davenport, Libby Long and Bobby Long.
The casket will be placed in Queens Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Friday, July 5 with funeral services to begin at 12 noon, the Rev. Dr. David A. Torrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet family and friends following the service.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Coffey, DeMarcus Epps, Robby Coffey, Corey Epps, Justin Broome and Matthew Epps.
