Obituary

Betty Bodie Kibler, 85, of Newberry died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born on September 7, 1937, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Nancy Estelle Shealy and Jesse Elias Bodie.

She was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. She served many years as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School Teacher and was an active member of the 50+ Club. She also was a member of Woodmen of the World and a former member of The Newberry Civitan Club.

Betty was a homemaker and supported her husband of 60 years, Leland Kibler, with the family business, Kibler's Inc.

She was a master at putting together puzzles, having done hundreds of them. She enjoyed camping and trips to Myrtle Beach. She was good at sewing, even sewing Leanne's pageant dresses. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she decorated her entire home, inside and out, with children-focused decoration even opening her home to the Newberry Christmas Tour of Homes. Of all of these, her favorite pastime was simply spending time with family.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Connie K. Holsonback (Mike) of Newberry; son-in-law, Tony Jones (Christy); grandchildren, Brian Beck (Erin), Randall Jones (Briana) and Leanne B. Roberts (Cade); great- grandchildren, Cadence, Kylar, and Decklynn Roberts, Caleb and Dylan Jones, and Karalie, Branson and Ella Beck; sisters, Marzella Free and Dorothy Cook ,brother-in-law Gordon Minick, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, special friends, Terry and Elizabeth Green and Stephanie Scott. She is also survived by numerous children who lovingly call her "Grandma."

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Jones; sisters, Virginia Morrow, Beatrice Bobb, Janet Hawkins, and Edna Neal; and brothers, Wallace Paul (Jack) Thomas and Ervin Bodie; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Minick.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Floyd Sides and the Rev. James Shealy at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Keith Minick, Kevin Minick, Kyle Minick, Chansel Minick, Robbie Franklin, and Mike Bostic.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Virginia Gibson, Nica Dowd, and past and present employees of Kibler's Inc.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to MSA Hospice, Nica Dowd, Virginia Gibson, and Dr. Lovelace.
