Betty Long Koon, 75, of Newberry, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Born on September 30, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Sara Black Long of Ward. Mrs. Koon was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Newberry. Betty took pleasure in baking cakes for many and she and her husband were avid Newberry High School Athletic Supporters. She is survived by her husband, Curtis B. Koon, Jr.; two daughters, Jackie Eachues (Tom) and Gina Koon, all of Newberry; two grandchildren, Josh Eachues (Samantha) and Jaci Koon, all of Newberry; sisters, Marian Duffie of Saluda, Judy Fallaw (Roger) of Hodges, and Rena Mae Hutto of Alma, GA; brother, Carroll Long of Ward; two dear sisters-in-law, Jessie Long and Amelia Koon, both of Ward; and a number of special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Harold, W.H. and John David Long all of Ward and a sister, Jenelle Harmon of Johnston. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Al Potter. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her nephews. The family will be at the home of Jackie Eachues. Betty's family thanks Amedisys Home Health, MSA Hospice, and Angel Care for their loving and compassionate care.
