Betty Reighley, age 88, of Newberry, died Saturday, October 15, 2022 at White Oak Manor.

She was born in Whitmire on June 5, 1934, a daughter of the late James William "Bill" and Margaret Stapleton Carroll. She was the beloved wife of 61 years of the late Meredith C. "Cotton" Reighley.

Betty loved spending time with family. From her annual beach trip to holidays and the summer family cookout, she always enjoyed being with those close to her and making special memories together. Amongst those close to her were her pet cats, whom she dearly loved, especially Pooh.  Betty was a Methodist and had a strong personal faith which carried her through both times of blessing and times of loss.

She worked as a laboratory technician in the food production industry, working for several years at ISE and later retiring from Louis Rich.

Betty is survived by a daughter, Dawn Reighley of Newberry, sisters, Frances C. Grant (Raymond) of Columbia and Dot Willard of Whitmire; adopted daughter and niece, Donna Lawson; nieces, Cheryl Wilson (Johnny) and Susan Willard; nephews, Doug Maness, Danny Willard (Loretta), and Mike Raines (Julie); and special friends Marti and Tommy Reid.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Jo Maness and her beloved cat Pooh.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell.

The family will receive friends following the service.
