William Lynch Grist Sr. 81 of 2 Park Dr. died Saturday June 04 2011 at CMC Mercy in Charlotte. A memorial service was at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday June 7 2011 at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ed Jillson and Rev. Thomas B. McPhail did officiate. A native of York Bill was a son of the late Samuel Earl Grist and Olive Lynch Grist. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder longtime choir member and a member of the Men's BiBle Class. He retired from Rock Hill Telephone Company Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by two daughters Nancy Harvey and her husband Bill of Newberry SC Betsy Miller of Greenville SC and one son Lyn Grist his wife Cynthia of York and his brother in law and his wife John and Mary Brady of Spartanburg and six grandchildern. He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Dunlap Grist and his sister Sally Brady. Visitation was held at First Presbyterian Church Parlor on Tuesday June 7 2011 following the service.
