Obituary

Billie Jean Drew Shealy, 79, of Newberry, SC, died April 4,2025. Born July 2, 1945, in Steele, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late James Charleston and Dixie Lee (Foster) Drew.

Billie was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She retired from the State of South Carolina Department of Social Services in Spartanburg and served as a Guardian Ad Litem. She also worked for Safe Home, a Woman's Shelter in Spartanburg. While living in Prosperity, Billie worked at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant & the Newberry Walmart.

Billie was an avid sports fan and at times enjoyed gambling. She loved sports so much she played basketball, Softball, Volleyball and cheered her beloved Carolina Gamecocks during any game she watched. Billie was known to be quite a competitive bowler. She even belonged to the Spartanburg bowling team, traveling all over competitively. She had a knack for gardening and potting plants. She carried the "Green Thumb" amongst the family and took great pride in her talent of growing plants. Billie had always been proud of her family; most of all her grandchildren and great grandbabies.

Billie is survived by daughters, Lisa Frick (Keith) of Little Mountain, Stephanie L. Shealy (Cyril) of Prosperity; son, John E. Shealy Jr. of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Taylor Michelle Frick (Drexyl) of Charleston, Jeana Leigh Ann Clark (Lane) of Leesville, Mary Michelle Pollard (Austin) of Newberry, Kayla Christine Clark (Brock) of Prosperity; great grandchildren, Aubry Skye Blackwell, Walker Elliot Pollard; siblings, Roberta Smith of Tennessee, Charlie Drew of Arkansas, Betty Callahan of Florida, Barbara Gray of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Anthony Bryson Blackwell of Little Mountain, Cory Justin Frick of Little Mountain; siblings Joanne Cupples of Arkansas, James Drew of Mississippi.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jason Schafer.

The family will gather for visitation following the service in the church's social hall.

Pallbearers will be Cyril Sheppard, Lane Garnett, Austin Pollard, Brock Sanders, Keith Frick, Drexyl Blair, and Derek Frick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Safe Houses of Spartanburg, Sister Care of Spartanburg, and The American Heart Association.

Memories and messages may be left on her tribute wall.
