Bobbie Joyce Roland Smith 76 of 705 Wardlaw St. Newberry died Thursday July 8 2010 at the Brian Center St. Andrews Columbia. Born in Laurens on February 17 1934 she was the daughter of the late Bertha Jackson and James Jim M. Roland. Mrs. Smith was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church and was a long time employee of Bergens Gift Shop and Bergens Mens and Womens stores.She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Melanie and Dell Ruff of Richmond Hill GA; son Michael W. Smith of Chapin SC; and five grandchildren Christopher and Kimberly Smith and Callie Anna and Ben Ruff. She was predeceased by her husband Thurman H. Smith.Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Whitesides and the Rev. Dr. Donald West. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Martin Howard Smith Greg Culbertson Wayne Cassady P.K.
