Bobby Ray Nichols, 86, of Newberry died Friday, May 7, 2021 at White Oak Manor. He was born on November 13, 1934 a son of the late Thomas and Elsie Cannon Nichols.
Bobby owned and operated the Oakland 66 Service Station on College Street for many years. He dearly loved and was proud of his family and his friends. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he was active for many years in Church Council, Men's Club, Choir, and Sunday School. He was also active in the Jaycees, where he was a South Carolina Jaycees Past President. Bobby loved collecting antique tinker toys and other items and had a knack for finding special antiques and trinkets that were valuable. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor, humble spirit, and thankful heart.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Cromer Nichols; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Junior Parkman; daughter-in-law Charlene Nichols; grandchildren, Summer Parkman, Madalyn Parkman, and Joshua Warren Nichols; and great-grandchildren Andrew Bennett, Isaac Nichols, and Cyril Garrett, Jr; and his devoted caretakers Barbara Brooks, Amanda Cook and Debra McClurkin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael "Mike" Nichols; grandchildren Jessica Nichols and Dylan Nichols; and a brother Cannon Nichols.
Funeral Services for Bobby will be held on Monday, May 10th, 4 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, under the direction of Rev Jimmy Counts and Rev Bruce Palmer. A time of Public Viewing will be held from 2PM-4PM, preceding the service. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Joshua Nichols, Tommy Brewington, Wayne Nichols, Otis Taylor, Jim Cromer, and Joe Palmer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
