Obituary

Bodo Zimmermann 55 of Chapin SC passed away suddenly on October 5 2012. He was born on May 18 1957 the son of Martha Hofmann Zimmermann and the late Alfred Zimmermann. Bodo was born and raised in Klschhausen Germany. Before arriving in the USA in 1984 he served two years in the German Army as a 1st Lt. He graduated from Staatliche Technikerakademie in Weilburg Germany with a Masters Degree in Engineering. Bodo traveled the world as an Engineer for the Overbeck Corp. which later became the DanobatGroup and was working with them at the time of his death. Bodo discovered American football and became an avid devoted fan of the USC Gamecocks never missing a game or tail-gating party. When the Gamecocks were not playing Bodo could be found boating on Lake Murray if possible. He had a life-long love of Lake Life. He was appointed Chairman of the Board at Vellas in Chapin and could be found conducting meetings there when not on the Lake. He is survived by his Mother and his beloved wife of 25 years Debbie Zimmermann of Chapin; a brother Holgar (Jutta) Zimmermann and his nephew Philipp Zimmermann both of Klschhausen Wetzler Germany; other nephews Danny Herlong (Jennifer) of Waxhaw NC and John Herlong (Anna) of Boca Raton Florida; sister-in-law Pama Herlong (Stanley) of Batesburg SC; and brothers-in-law Steven Hall of Batesburg SC and Billy Hall of Las Vegas NV. He also leaves many many devoted and loving friends in the Chapin area across the USA Germany and the rest of the world who will always feel a part of their hearts are missing. A Celebration of Life service was held at the Chapin United Methodist Church 415 Lexington Ave. Chapin SC 29036 on Tuesday October 16 2012 at 4 PM. The family did receive friends immediately following the service. A private funeral for the remains were held. As Bodo was a huge lover of animals the family suggests memorials be made to the PETS Inc. The Carolinas Humane Society 300 Orchard Dr. West Columbia SC 29170 or to the Humane Society of Columbia 121 Humane Lane Columbia SC 29209.
