Obituary

Boyd W. "Buck" Webber, Jr., age 87, of Prosperity, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. Born on May 14, 1938, in Jonesville, SC, Buck was the son of Boyd W. and Mable (Rogers) Webber, Sr.

Buck lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and joy. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. Following his service, he built a successful career as a Licensed Electrical Contractor, owning and operating his own business. He was also a proud member of the Free and Accepted Masons.

Buck's zest for life was evident in the way he spent his time. He cherished weekend getaways to the mountains and the beach, especially when accompanied by his beloved wife, Diane. Together, they shared a love for shag dancing, boating on Lake Murray, and cruising on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Buck's constant companion, his cairn terrier "Harley," was often seen riding shotgun on golf cart adventures around the neighborhood. He also had a love for his niece Susan's vegetable soup. It brought a smile to his face when he saw her husband Don come through the door with it!

Buck is survived by his devoted wife, Diane of Prosperity, SC; his children, Michael (Steffanie) Shinn, Melanie Shinn, James (Elisha) Shinn, all of Prosperity, SC; William Lee (Christi) Shinn, Jr. of Moore, SC; and Donna (Daniel) Coursey, of Vidalia, GA. He is also survived by his siblings, Vivian Craig and Elaine Bentley of Jonesville, SC; Thomas (Sandra) Webber of Spartanburg, SC; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jamie Webber.

A memorial service to honor Buck's life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, those who knew and loved Buck are invited to remember him in their own way—perhaps with a ride through the countryside, a dance to a favorite tune, or a quiet moment by the water.
