Rockwell-Boyden L. Brown, Sr., 91, passed away Friday evening, November 4, 2016. Born April 28, 1925 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late John Boyden and Bessie Schenck Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene Honeycutt Brown, a brother, Michael Brown and a sister, Mae Schenck. Boyden had faithfully and honorably served his country with the 3rd Marine Division, during WWII. A lifelong member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Mr. Brown had been a truck driver for many years and was former owner of West Innes Street Texaco. He had most recently been employed as a bus driver for the City of Salisbury. Family members include his son, B.L. Brown, Jr. and wife, Dale, of Newberry, SC; his granddaughter, Marianna Ray and husband, Travis; brothers Kenneth and Charles Brown; sisters Barbara Kesler, Billie Kizziah and Frances Duffell; his great-grandsons Logan and Lawson Ray, and a special faithful cousin, Melvin Schenck and wife Gale. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 8th from 1:30 – 3:00 pm in the fellowship hall of Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Brown will begin at 3:00 pm in the church, conducted by Pastor Bob Young, minister.
