Carl Koon 61 of 5755 Whitmire Highway Clinton died Friday February 25 2011 at his residence. Born on August 27 1949 in Newberry he was a son of the late Levi S. and Rebecca Crumpton Koon. Mr. Koon was an Army Veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was employed for a number of years with Eagle Construction and was a member of Bush River Baptist Church. Mr. Koon was an avid fan of dirt track car racing. He is survived by a son Robby Koon of Clinton SC ; a daughter Cindy Lee Koon of Hollywood; grandchildren Hunter Michael Horton and Joshua Bradley Horton; sisters Jeriah Boulware and Annette Rikard both of Newberry Sara Lipe of Prosperity and Maria Shemiah of Sandusky OH; and brothers Jeff (Karen Long) Koon of Newberry Donald (Robin) Koon of Great Falls and Henry (Debbie) Koon of Kinards SC. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Bush River Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family was at the home of Jeff Koon 1146 Circle Road Newberry and did receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday Whitaker Funeral Home.
