Carl Ray Lindler, 78, of Prosperity, died on Wednesday morning, July 4, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.
Born on September 10, 1939 in Chapin, he was a son of the late Rayon and Annie Yenny Lindler. He received his Master's Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina and retired from the Bayer Cooperation in Charleston.
Carl was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church. While his health allowed, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening, especially his tomatoes. He and his brothers were members of the Hardee's Breakfast Club in Chapin, where they met on Wednesday mornings.
He was a natural leader, who loved his family.
Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Hawkins Lindler; children and their spouses, Gary Michael and Susan Lindler of Whitmire and Cindy and Randy Derrick of Prosperity; siblings and spouse, Albert and Elvia Lindler and Paul Linder all of Chapin; grandchildren and their spouse, Daniel Shaw, Justin and Kayla McKean, Dylan Derrick, Breanna Nicole Lindler, and Stephanie Dawn Floyd; and great grandchildren, Thomas McKean, Kayleigh McKean, Danny Shaw, and Emma Grace Shaw.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Bobby Morris
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
