Carl M. Brown 83 died Sunday May 24 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral service. Carl was born on August 27 1931 in Newberry a son of the late Thomas W. Tom Brown and Luda Willard Brown. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a former employee of the Kendall Co. Oakland Plant. He retired as a carpenter and brick mason. Carl was an avid hunter and gardener but most of all he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He had a special ability to build things out of wood and masonry. He is survived his daughter and her husband Deborah and Woodie Stout of Newberry; a brother Tommy Brown of Newberry; grandchildren Ashley Davenport (John) Michael Gilstrap (Brandi) Daniel Brown and Kevin Brown; 5 great grandchildren; and a special nephew Bill Brown. He was predeceased by his wife Betty Ann Morris Brown; his son Carl Daniel Brown; sister Beatrice Bundrick; and brothers Floyd James Fred Raymond Olin Joe and Albert Brown.
