Carol Jane Hood Adkins of Union passed away at her home on Sunday February 10 following a courageous 4 year battle against breast cancer. Born in York on March 8 1951 to the late Fay Mickle Hood and Margaret Pridmore Hood she is survived by her husband of 41 years Mickey Adkins and a daughter Melanie A. Jenkins and son-in-law Chad Jenkins of Newberry. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Union and a retired kindergarten teacher having taught in York School District #1 for over 25 years. She also worked with her husband Mickey at Union Family Pharmacy as office manager for seven years until their retirement in 2011. In addition to her husband and daughter she is survived by a sister Mary Ann H. Wilkins (Tal) of Union a brother William Hood (Rozlynn) of Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Susan Hood. A memorial service was held on Saturday February 16 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church 101 West South Street Union to celebrate her life with visitation in the church fellowship hall following the service. A fund is being established at First Presbyterian Church in Janes memory to help ensure that all children have an opportunity to attend church camp and grow spiritually through the experience.
