Obituary

Caroline Cook Cockrell, 87, of Prosperity, died Wednesday evening, December 20, 2023, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry.

She was born on December 11, 1936, in Prosperity, South Carolina, she was a daughter to the late Samuel Allen Cook and the Late Eunice Halfacre Cook. She was the devoted wife of 61 years to the late H.L. "Buck" Cockrell.

Caroline was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church for over twenty years and was a faithful Christian to her Lord and Savior. She was a dear and loving lady who always found the good in everybody. She was known to be friendly to anyone she met and always continued to have that up-beat charm in her presence. Caroline loved her faith, church and family and attended many bible studies over the years.

Caroline will always be a favorite in her family, and everyone always talked about how sweet she was and how wonderful of a mother she had always been. She certainly loved and was proud of her family. Over her many years, she had many favorite past time memories that she enjoyed; but one that stood out was when her and her husband sold Christmas Trees on their Christmas Tree Farm on Cockrell Drive.

She is survived by her daughters, Harriet Christine "Tina" C. Brown (Terry) of Newberry and Cassandra "KC" C. Phibbs (Jimmie) of Prosperity; grandchildren, Brian J. LeCompte, Sr. (Seabron), Shannon L. Rulli (Nick), and Brooke P. Pressley (Joshua); her step-grandchildren, Amy Brown Metts (Doug), and Nicolas R. Brown (Christy); her great-grandchildren, Ames LeCompte, Asher LeCompte, Arlan LeCompte, Jase Rulli, Luca Rulli, Brayden Pressley and Savannah Pressley; and her step great-grandchildren, Kelsi Bowers (Tyler), Corbin Metts, Madison Epting and Camden Brown. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, her special friends, Wayne and Meredith Achepohl and her expected great-great grandchild who is due in April 2024.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her bothers, Max Cook and Harold Cook, and her sisters, Christine Hutchinson and Anne Graham.
