Carolyn Key, 74, of Newberry, died May 21, 2024.

She was born on August 20, 1949 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late John J. Key and Allie Bass Pierce.

She was a loving mother.

She is survived by her life partner and best friend, Walter William Grossl; daughters, Melanie Crumpton and Bonnie (Larry Kelly) Tollison; sons, Glenn (Cissy) Dillashaw and Wesley (Lori) Dillashaw all of Newberry; sisters, Geneva (Carl) Mock, Cheryl (Buddy Atkinson) Key, and Betsy Brown, brother, Mitch Pierce, all of Kershaw; brothers-in-law, Buddy Atkinson and Mike Holley, three grandchildren Jonathon Crumpton, Chip Newkirk, and Landon Stribble; great granddaughter, Kendra Crumpton; her beloved pet, Jolene; best friend, Toby Duvall. She was predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Talbert and Juanita Holley, brother, Ernest Key; sister-in-law, Margie Key; brother-in-law, Gene Brown, and her beloved pets, Reese Grossl and Wick Key B. Grossl.

A funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior starting at 2:00 p.m.
