Cathy Ann Cottrill Balazs, age (almost) 67, devoted wife of 43 years to Joe Balazs, III died suddenly on Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Chapin, SC.

Born in Riverside, CA on February 12, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Donald Raymond Cottrill and Dorothy Mae Tilley Cottrill.

Mrs. Balazs was the most loving wife, devoted mother, and nurturing grandmother. She was committed to her Catholic faith and used her many talents and blessings in the service of others. Mrs. Balazs is remembered as incredibly thoughtful, generous, and talented. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and a member of Sew Blessed where she used her expert sewing skills to make "port pillows" for chemotherapy patients.

In addition to her husband Joe of Chapin, she is survived by: one son, Joe Balazs IV (Parris) of Chapin; three daughters, Amanda Balazs Owen (Gregory) of Cumming, GA; Michaela Balazs Gould (Jeremy) of Irmo; Hayley Balazs Harrison (Marshall) of Lexington; one sister, Barbara Mahan of Roseville, CA; four brothers, Donald Cottrill of Citrus Heights, CA, Gregory Cottrill of Folsom, CA, Timothy Cottrill of Roseville, CA, and Jeffrey Cottrill of Folsom, CA; six grandchildren, Liam Balazs, Kellen Gould, Laityn Gould, Mila Gould, Marshall "Tre`" Harrison, and Cora Ann (named after Cathy) Balazs; and many nieces and nephews. All six of Mrs. Balazs' grandchildren attended "grandma-garten" where she helped to raise them in their earliest years, imparting to them the essential skills of using the ipad.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Dennis Willey on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin, SC.  A Repast will follow the service at the church.
