Cecil C. Bud Hamer Jr. 80 of 608 Mallard Dr. Chapin SC died Monday April 16 2012 at his residence. Born on March 3 1932 in PortsmouthVirginia he was a son of the late Eula Price and Cecil Chester Hamer Sr. Bud retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Air Force where he worked as a meteorologist. Following his 28 years of military service he was the owner of Westside Ice Company and served as President for both the Southeastern Ice Exchange and the Packaged Ice Exchange. He was a member of SCORE American Legion Post 193 and MENSA. Bud served as a docent for the SC State Museum and was a volunteer for many years at the Greater Chapin Chamber of Commerce. He was a man who traveled the world and a man who enjoyed his time with the Do Nothing Breakfast Club sailing fishing and being active in Chapin United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Norma Utsey Hamer; daughter Melissa A. Hamer-Bailey and husband Eric of Indianapolis IN; son Andrew Allen Hamer of Columbia; step-daughter Meg Bryce Jiunnies and husband Jay of Florence; step-son Clyde Smith Bryce III and wife Kerry of Chapin; sister Bette H. Loflin of Florence; grandson Samuel Holt Bailey; step-grandchildren Meghan & Tyner Jiunnies and Chandler & Maggie Bryce; and his childrens mother Louise Hamer Eisenhaur. He was predeceased by a sister Florence H. Thomas. Funeral services with military honors were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at the Chapin United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jody Flowers and Rev. Paul Allen. The body was placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Visitation was from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin.
