Cecil Murphy Hall Jr. 74 of Hilton Head died Tuesday February 10 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Mitch VanMetre. The children will be at their respected homes Jessica and Leon Madray 2254 Thunder Road Newberry SC and Caroline Hall 129 Merowey Court Chapin SC and they will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday February 13 at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Born on January 21 1941 in Mobile AL he was the son of the late Cecil and Dorothy Judge Hall. Mr. Hall was a retired Navy Captain and former co-owner of Nichols Photography Studio in Newberry. He was a member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. Mr. Hall also attended Low Country Presbyterian Church in Bluffton and Providence Presbyterian in Hilton Head where he was involved with Stephens Ministry. During his life he participated in several mission trips. Mr. Hall received a bachelors degree in chemistry from Alabama and a Masters degree in Nutrition from Clemson and was an avid football fan of both schools. He enjoyed photography kayaking walking on the beach and spending time at the local library. He is survived by daughters Jessica Madray (Leon Jr.) of Newberry and Caroline Hall of Chapin; grandchildren Katelyn Taylor James N. Hall and Will Madray; sister Dorothy Cecile Schaefer of Mooresville; niece Jamie Pickrell (Lindy); and nephews Rob Savacool and David Savacool.
