Cecil Ray Swygert 62 of Chapin died Tuesday April 23 2013 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday April 29 at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapin. Graveside funeral services were conducted by Teddy Collins at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 30 2013 at Woodridge Memorial Park Lexington. Ray was born on August 31 1950 in Columbia a son of the late Cecil Howard and Morteen Stabler Swygert. He worked for the R.L. Bryan Company and retired after 30 years of service. Ray could almost always be found outdoors and participated in just about any activity that kept him outside. He particularly enjoyed hunting fishing cars tractors 4-wheelers trucks and animals especially his Annabelle and Katie. He also appreciated good cooking. Ray genuinely loved people he enjoyed talking and catching up whenever he could and he would give just about anything to help someone--he was a true friend. But above all else his life was his daughter. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Lynn Swygert of Chapin; a brother Charles Swygert of Lexington; and many friends. Pallbearers were Eddie Brazell ONeil Lindler Bo Woods Rhett Kelly Eddie Bundrick and Jimmy Minick..
