Charles "Chuck" D. Chappell, Sr., 88, of Newberry, died Monday, January 16, 2023 at White Oak Manor.

Born on November 8, 1934 in Newberry, he was a son of the late John and Annie Lou Spotts Chappell.

Chuck was a longtime and active member of St. James Lutheran Church, as well as a longtime Boy Scout Leader. He was an avid golfer for forty years.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Williams Chappell; son, Charlie Chappell (Ana) of Simpsonville; daughter, Tessa Chappell of Newberry; grandchildren, Reid Dickert, Codie Dickert, Cohen Chappell, Walker Chappell, and Halle Chappell; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mack Chappell, Mary Ann Wilson, Joe Chappell, and Don Chappell.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Delene Dickert; grandchild, Colt Dickert; and brother, Tommy Chappell.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Rodney Gunter at St. James Lutheran Church on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 4:00PM. Burial will be held in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the burial.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Wicker and Dixon Brooks.
