Charles E. Harshaw 78 of 6480 Mt. Bethel Garmany Road Newberry died Tuesday June 12 2012 at his home. Graveside funeral services with military honors were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 15 2012 by the Rev. Dr. David Seymour at Newberry Memorial Gardens. He was born on June 21 1933 in Marion NC the son of the late John M. and Charlie Mae Henline Harshaw. Mr. Harshaw was a 1955 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College where he received his Bachelors degree in Business. He later worked as a salesman in the textile industry. He was a Navy veteran where he served aboard the USS Coral Sea. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was known for his horsemanship skills and his love for equines. Mr. Harshaw is survived by his wife of 56 years Constance Connie Patterson Harshaw; sons and daughters-in-law Charles Clinton Clint (Paula) Harshaw of Newberry and Clay E. (Emily) Harshaw of Greensboro NC; sister Macon Ann Harshaw of Northridge CA; granddaughters Vanessa Charlene Harshaw and Morgan Christine Harshaw both of Newberry and Anna Katherine Harshaw and Ashley Reagan Harshaw both of Greensboro NC; and nephew Christopher B. Capelle of Palo Alto CA. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer 1515 Boundary Street Newberry S.C. 29108.
