Charles Grady Glymph 92 of Chapin SC died Friday January 11 2013 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service was held at 3:00 PM Sunday January 13 at St. Peter Lutheran Church Chapin SC by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Visitation did follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Born November 4 1920 in Newberry County he was a son of the late Dewey McLaurin and Ollie Mae DeHihns Glymph. Mr. Glymph was a US Army veteran of World War II and was retired from road construction after 43 years. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class and had served on the church council and building committee. He loved his church family. He enjoyed gardening driving his tractor puttering in his workshop and tending his animals. He felt a deep appreciation for the land on which he lived and all things in nature. A devoted and loving husband father grandfather brother and uncle his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved well and was well loved. Surviving are his wife of 66 years Martha Frick Glymph; son Ronny Glymph and daughter-in-law Kathy Glymph of Chapin; daughter Susan Glymph of Columbia; daughter-in-law Martha Compton of Anderson; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Mack Glymph (Norma) of Union and Olin Glymph (Barbara) of Newberry; sisters Nannie Roberts of Laurens and Reba Goldsmith of Greenville; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by a son Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.
