Charles O. Metts, 81, of Newberry died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his residence. Born on April 1, 1935, he was the son of the late William H. "Will" and Gracie Hasleden Metts. He was a retired employee of the Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was active with the Newberry County Council on Aging while his health permitted. He was of the Lutheran faith. Mr. Metts is survived by his step-daughter, Rhonda Hamilton and family of Newberry; brother, George Metts of West Columbia; sister, Marilyn Kane of Daytona Beach, FL; half-sisters, Ann White, Janice Owens, and Debra Metts; half-brother, Steve Metts; and cousins, Aliene Floyd, Geraldine Morris, and Betty Daniel. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Patsy Taylor Metts, Mary Willford Metts, and Dorothy Lollis Metts; and his siblings, Nell Sligh and Danny Metts. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the chapel at Springfield Place, 2000 Springfield Place, Newberry by Mr. Richard Hamilton.
