Cheryl Lynn Fulmer Evans Mellinger, 68, of Little Mountain, died Tuesday January 26, at Prisma Richland Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1952 in Little Mountain to the late Joseph Keith Fulmer, Sr. and Rosalyn Boland Fulmer.
Cheryl had a loving heart and a spirit of generosity, always looking for ways to do something special for others. She was also very independent, always wanting to do what she could on her own. She was proud of her work as an inside sales representative for Chatham Steel for 40 years, and loved serving her customers. She would often say she loved to "sell steel!" She enjoyed time with family, especially her dear granddaughter "KK". She also enjoyed chauffeuring her sister and friends wherever they wanted to go - particularly to the mountains.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Tara (Dennis) Mellinger Koon, and granddaughter, Kamryn "KK" Koon of Little Mountain; step-son, Ty Jerome Mellinger of Asheville, NC; a sister, Rosann F. Lester of Newberry; brothers, Fred (Lynn) Fulmer and Keith (Janet) Fulmer, of Little Mountain, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Terry Mellinger and two children from a prior marriage, McClain Fulmer Evans and Angela Lynn Evans.
Visitation will be held at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin, Friday January 29 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 30 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery by the Rev. Brett Collins. Pallbearers will be Robbie Lester, Neal Lester, Mark Lester, Cliff Fulmer, Warren Fulmer, and Brian Fulmer.
