Chevis E. Franklin 73 of 4007 College St. Newberry died Tuesday January 15 2013 at his residence. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Graveside funeral services with military honors were conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday January 19 2013 in the Springdale Section of Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Rodney Gunter and Rev. David Conner. Chevis was born on Nov. 19 1939 in Newberry the son of the late D. Earl and Narvis Merchant Franklin McDaniel. He was a US. Navy veteran and a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church. He was in law enforcement for over 28 years in Newberry County. And was a former member of the Newberry County Law Enforcement association and the S.C. Law Enforcement Association. He is survived by his wife Kathy Riddle Franklin; daughters Lindsay E. Franklin of Newberry Tamela A. Adkins of Saluda and Tanya Rose of GA; sons Kristopher S. Franklin and Kevin Chase Franklin both of Newberry; grandchildren Austin Saverance Haley and Carley Franklin Erin and Branden Murphy Benjamin and Lena Amick Matthew and Tristen Rose; and 3 great grandchildren.. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Hancock Roy Stribble Marvin Calloway Mark Butch Griffith Bart Cochcroft and B. J. Cochcroft.
